Performs various duties related to loading, unloading, and verifying merchandise in an Exchange store, storeroom, or designated location, including moving and stacking layaway merchandise.
Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads merchandise; examines for damage or shortages.
- Verifies type and quantity of merchandise received against provided documentation; reports discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor.
- Assists in assembling and loading merchandise based on received requests.
- Unpacks, segregates, and stocks merchandise on counters and/or shelves according to established instructions; may price stamp merchandise.
- Conducts periodic inventories by counting stock items and maintains cleanliness and order in storage and sales areas.
- Moves designated layaway merchandise from the retail store to a warehouse area and stacks it according to prescribed procedures.
- Returns merchandise to the store as required and ensures proper documentation is completed and forwarded to appropriate departments.
- May operate a price tag machine, unload boxes and packages, and pull merchandise from stock shelves.
- Assists customers in locating merchandise and answering general questions; may occasionally operate a cash register.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Six months of experience performing duties related to loading, unloading, and verifying merchandise.
- Must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
Physical Effort
- Stands, walks, and handles merchandise up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- May be required to stand for long periods.
Working Conditions
- Generally works indoors with exposure to drafts, heat, noise, and dust.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
