Seasonal Skate Shop Attendant

Seasonal position located at 2442 Sims Avenue, Stevens Point, WI. 4 positions available.

About the role

The skate shop employees are responsible for the daily operation of the Skate Shop. This position is 10–15 hours per week, primarily evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serve patrons in a cheerful and professional manner.
• Perform transactions for admission and skate rentals.
• Fit skates appropriately and store them in an organized manner.
• Hand out helmets and skate aids as requested.
• Clean the Skate Shop and arena at the end of each shift.
• Inspect rental skates for blade quality; check and replace skate laces and insoles as needed.
• Inventory the First Aid Cabinet daily to ensure it is fully stocked.
• Keep merchandise stocked and report low inventory to your supervisor.
• Manage skates to be sharpened in the appropriate manner.
• Answer the Skate Shop telephone.
• Follow accident procedures as outlined in the K.B. Willett employee manual.
• Open and close the Skate Shop cash register.
• Conduct work safely and adhere to all safety policies.
• Remain in the Skate Shop area when the shop is open.

Requirements

• Demonstrate good public relation skills.
• Ability to work well with fellow employees.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 6–8 hours per day and lift 50–100 pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to continuously walk or stand for 4–8 hours.
• Proficient knowledge of sharpening Hockey and Figure Skates, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to operate point of sale software and cash drawer.
• Proficiency in mathematics.
• Ability to work unsupervised.

Pay

$16.83 per hour.
