About the role

This position represents 8 openings. The Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role requires adherence to Kaiser Permanente’s policies and principles of responsibilities, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates appropriate accountability.
  • Understands own and team members scope of practice and escalates issues as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates professional, supportive behavior and champions new ideas.
  • Leads and directs others through the change process and participates in problem identification and resolution.
  • Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit specific operations and patient care activities.
  • Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds him/her accountable for performance.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care that reflects assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan.
  • Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of data, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, i.e., planning, measuring/monitoring, assessing, and improving.
  • Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices. Applies standard precautions; maintains a safe environment for self and others.
  • Prompts answers to call lights, alarms, and patient requests. Facilitates the customers ability to utilize resources. Maintains and protects patient confidentiality. Ensures clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
  • Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness and compassion. Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those identified needs. Gives patients information in a way they can understand and ensures comprehension. Provides a patient care experience that exceeds members expectations.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings, in-services and staff meetings as required, actively participates in other departmental professional development.
  • Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime. Identifies and assists in systems improvement that needs simplification or correction. Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience required in an acute or sub-acute facility within the last three (3) years.
  • Completion of RN Program.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support.
  • May be required to take a Basic Arrhythmia course.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: Minimum six (6) months of experience required in an acute or sub-acute facility within the last three (3) years.
  • Education: Completion of RN Program.
  • Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Registered Nurse License (California), Basic Life Support.
  • Additional Requirements: Basic Arrhythmia course required. Notes May be Part-Time or Full-Time, Day or Night Shift. Start date will be September 14, 2026 - February 21, 2027, for orientation and training (may vary by medical center/clinic). End date will be 5 months from start date. RN-s will be UNAC/UHCP or SEIU Local 121 union dues paying members. The initiation fee will be waived. Position is non-benefited, temporary. KFH may be required to float to other related MST departments. May be cancelled, but no more than five (5) times during the temporary obligation. Is guaranteed one major holiday off during the assignment, but is obligated to work all others, if needed. Transfers to another position at Kaiser Permanente will not be permitted during the temporary commitment, however if participants are interested in regular employment, they are encouraged to express interest for regular positions 6-8 weeks prior to end of assignment. Will be required to work every other weekend.
