Responsibilities

  • Service assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant.
  • Perform extensive physical exertion including lifting, pushing, and pulling trash receptacles weighing up to 75 pounds each from the ground approximately 300–500 times per day.
  • Enter and exit the truck approximately 600–1,000 times per day.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions and be exposed to unpleasant odors and sights.
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with LRS’ safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager.
  • Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list.
  • Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, closure doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and check-out process.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Class B CDL.
  • Valid DOT medical card or obtain one prior to hire.
  • No DUI’s or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • No license suspensions within the last 2 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment screenings.
  • Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Able and willing to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently walk and stand up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be physically able to enter/climb and leave truck cab frequently.
  • Must have the manual dexterity required to operate controls on truck.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Seasonal position from April to mid-December (no work January through March).

  • April–September: Monday–Friday with some Saturdays.
  • October–December: Monday–Saturday as needed.
  • Hours may fluctuate depending on volume of work.

Pay

$30.26 per hour
