The Seasonal Portables Driver is responsible for servicing assigned route(s) with the servicing of portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other equipment within the Pit Stop Division. The driver represents the company in a safe and respectable manner while servicing customer accounts dispatched to him/her throughout the day and communicating regularly with dispatchers and supervisors.
Seasonal – the season is April to mid-December. A seasonal driver does not work January through March.
Schedule
- April – September: Monday - Friday with some Saturdays
- October through December: Monday-Saturday, as needed
Please understand hours or Saturdays may fluctuate depending on the volume of work.
Responsibilities
- Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Service portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other company equipment to the expectations that meet or exceed the company’s standards for service.
- Complete assigned routes. Communicate with dispatch as route changes or issues arise.
- Maintain and update route sheets.
- Conduct pre-trip/post trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain and update drivers log sheets.
- Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
- Keep truck clean and operating properly within driver’s ability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand a map.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing up to 40 lbs).
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred.
- Waste industry experience, a plus.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional tasks specific to work location, department, or line of business.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
- Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire.
- Must not have any DUI’s or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
- Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years.
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
