About the Role
This seasonal part-time maintenance position supports the City by performing groundskeeping and general maintenance tasks for public facilities and City-owned property. The role requires physical labor outdoors and interaction with employees and the public.
Primary Duties
- Mow and trim City-owned property using mowers and weed eaters.
- Water plants and landscaping as needed.
- Pick up trash in parks and public areas.
- Stock restrooms and ensure cleanliness of public facilities.
- Lift and haul brush, branches, and other debris.
- Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and hand tools.
- Valid Kansas driver's license; driving record must meet commercial liability insurance requirements.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely operate lawn care and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 90 pounds and perform physical labor outdoors.
- Good communication skills and a customer service mindset.
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully with the general public and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Regular physical activity including lifting, bending, walking, and kneeling.
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (36 hours/week), Fridays off
