Seasonal Natural Resources Pre-Professional Deer Management
About the role
We are looking for individuals to assist in the ongoing white-tailed deer management project within DuPage County, contributing to effective population control measures. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, located twenty (20) miles west of Chicago, IL is a highly acclaimed government agency that has been instrumental in enhancing the overall quality of life for the residents of DuPage County for over 100 years. We believe in conservation, teamwork and public service. Our mission is to protect and improve the county’s natural areas while providing high-quality educational and recreational experiences for the people who call DuPage home.
Responsibilities
- Perform field dressing procedures on lethally removed deer
- Gather tissue samples
- Ensure safe and responsible handling of harvested animals
- Operate trucks and/or ATVs as part of fieldwork
Schedule
Monday‑Friday, overnight 6:00 pm to 4:00 am, with some weekend work. Work occurs October 2026 through February 2027. The first six days will be day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday‑Friday.
Pay
Compensation rate of pay $19.00‑$20.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older at the time of hire
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Previous experience with wildlife and natural resource management preferred
- Proficiency in handling knives used in field dressing and knowledge of safe operating practices
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow intricate instructions with precision and accuracy
