Seasonal Mate / Deckhand – Private Sportfishing Vessel

Key Responsibilities

• Aid with all offshore fishing operations and guest support onboard
• Rig tackle, prepare bait, handle fish, and assist with cleaning
• Manage dock lines, anchor, and provide docking assistance
• Maintain vessel cleanliness and readiness before and after trips
• Support safe vessel operation and navigation
• Operate the vessel as needed under owner/captain direction
• Perform general maintenance and organize fishing equipment and deck areas

Qualifications

• Prior experience on sportfishing or large center console vessels required
• Strong knowledge of offshore fishing techniques and equipment
• Comfortable handling lines and working in varying sea conditions
• Ability to operate vessels safely and confidently
• Professional attitude with strong communication skills
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Position Details

Seasonal summer role based in Montauk, NY
Competitive hourly compensation $25-30 per hour based on experience and credentials
Private vessel environment — no charter operations
