About the role

We’re looking for music and pop culture fanatics to help create the best experience for our customers. As a Hot Topic Seasonal Key Holder, you’ll be a huge part of our success by supporting the store leadership team in providing the best customer experience, ensuring that fellow fans are able to get their hands on the merch they love. You’ll use your fandom knowledge to help train new recruits and ensure their success, while also supporting your Store Manager in daily operations and meeting sales targets.

Responsibilities

• Provide an amazing shopping experience that will encourage customers to return.
• Use product knowledge, customer experience skills and use of the Force to impress customers.
• Step in and step up when needed; provide leadership support and help run the store when the Manager is pulled away.
• Understand store sales plan and comp sales goals, and help drive sales by increasing key KPIs: UPT and ADT.
• Cover the sales floor zone and ensure assigned areas are up to visual standards; assist with opening and closing the store.
• Work the register: process sales transactions, use fandom knowledge to drive add‑on sales, close out the register, and communicate any shortages or overages to the Store Manager.
• Assist with planogram changes including store map, wall, fixture, and merchandising mix.
• Communicate fashion & music trend information to management and HQ partners.
• Work with Store Management to prevent misuse of spells and wizardry around theft (i.e., help deter theft).
• Support maintenance of the stock room; keep it organized and the store tidy.
• Train and coach new Sales Associates as needed to help them acclimate to the team.
• Perform any other activities as assigned by your Store Leader.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a retail environment.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Skills

• Superpowers in providing customer service and selling.
• Avenger‑like collaboration and communication skills.
• Captain America‑like leadership abilities.
• Ability to stand and walk around during scheduled hours.
• Ability to reach for merchandise using a ladder, step stool, and pole.
• Ability to move boxes of merchandise that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

Pay

$12.50 - $14.40 an hour. Note: the pay range starts as listed, but final salary may vary based on education, location, meeting minimum job requirements, training, and experience.
