Seasonal - HRA Operations Associate
About the role
This is a seasonal, hourly role running from October through January, created to support our members during the busy open-enrollment season. The schedule is 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with two available shifts based on location: Shift A: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. ET; Shift B: 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. ET. No weekend coverage required.
From helping someone understand their coverage to troubleshooting an issue or guiding them through enrollment, you'll play an important role in making sure every member feels informed, supported, and cared for. You'll own each interaction from start to finish—working directly with carriers, answering benefit questions, resolving problems, and helping create a seamless member experience. We're looking for licensed insurance professionals who combine technical expertise with genuine empathy: people who can simplify complex information, remain calm under pressure, and treat every member like a human being—not a ticket number.
Your day-to-day
- Provide members with seamless support by phone and email
- Submit applications to insurance carriers and own them through approval
- Help members navigate the healthcare system and understand their coverage options
- Quickly identify and resolve issues when transactions or experiences don't go as planned
- Document every member phone call and email in Zendesk
- Answer eligibility and benefit-specific questions
- Provide consistent phone and email coverage during your scheduled shift
Required experience
- An active resident-state health and life insurance license
- Direct experience enrolling individuals through Healthcare.gov or a state-based exchange, such as Covered California
- Experience in a customer-support or member-services environment, such as a call center or help desk
This is a service role first, not a sales role. General insurance sales experience without hands-on marketplace enrollment experience will not be sufficient.
What we'll assess during the interview process
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
- Patience, empathy, and composure under pressure
- The ability to apply insurance expertise while guiding someone through enrollment
- Comfort working confidently within a support-ticketing platform
- Availability to work one of the designated shifts for the full October–January seasonal term
Preferred, but not required
- Licensure in multiple states—or an active license in one state and a willingness to obtain additional licenses
- Bilingual fluency, particularly in Spanish
- Experience using Zendesk or a comparable customer-support platform
What you're made of
- Mission-driven and motivated by meaningful work
- Someone who follows through and takes pride in doing things well
- Curious, thoughtful, and clear about your "why"
- A self-starter who can confidently figure things out
- Empathetic, honest, and genuinely caring toward others
- Collaborative while still comfortable working independently
How we take care of you
- 100% Silver Plan medical coverage — plus dental and vision
- Vitable Primary Care membership — the same care we give our members, yours too
- 401(k) and life insurance
- Unlimited PTO — and we actually mean it
- Remote-first — work from wherever you do your best thinking
- MacBook and home office setup stipend — the gear you need to do great work
- Competitive equity — you're building something real, you should own a piece of it
