Job Summary

Grounds Team Members are part of a diverse operation that includes custodial work, event preparation, parking lot traffic control, and various other projects across the John Ball Zoo and park areas. This is a hands-on team dedicated to serving zoo guests as well as their fellow team members. The goal is to enhance the zoo experience by creating a clean, comfortable, and accessible environment for all.

PAY

PAY RATE: Starting at $12.00 / Hour under 18 Starting at 13.75 / Hour over 18

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to visually assess and monitor structural features, fixtures, furnishings, and operating and security systems
  • Must have sufficient mobility to access all areas of the Zoo and to access, enter, and maneuver in confined spaces
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch for extended periods, multiple times a day while performing tasks such as weeding, planting, or edging
  • Occasional climbing or reaching overhead to trim trees or access elevated areas
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to wear all required protective clothing and equipment

What We Require

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Must be outgoing and enjoy collaborating with other team members on a project
  • Must be comfortable cleaning public areas such as restrooms, break spaces, and windows
  • Must be comfortable interacting with zoo and park guests
