Summary The Seasonal Greenhouse Worker will have the opportunity to be cross trained in several areas of the greenhouse. Role Responsibilities Harvest minitubers by cooperatively working on a team following the pace and instruction of a team leadHandle plants carefully to avoid damageHarvest minitubers accurately to size at a steady paceRemove yellow or dead leaves from plants being harvestedSweep greenhouse of all trash throughout the dayAccurately record variety information into iPad and computer systemWash dishes, clean bathrooms, sweep and mop greenhouses, headhouse and breakroom, take out trash as needed or according to scheduleBirthing - Assist the Lab lead with transfer and preparation of plants from lab to greenhousePlanting – delicately transfer plantlets from birthing trays to greenhouse hydroponic trays according to planting mapSizing-Safely operate sizing machine to ensure minitubers are correctly sized while keeping variety information accurateCounting- Accurately count minitubers and record all required information on identification tagsPropagation - Rapid multiplication of tissue culture plantlets using sterile techniqueLab Media - Follow recipes to produce media for tissue culture plantlets using sterile techniqueGreenhouse Prep - dress trays, string hoses, cut plastic to correct size, read planting mapsFacilities-Assist the facilities manager with any duties neededOther duties as assigned Required Qualifications Willing and able to complete training orientation periodAble to flex work schedule as needed based on seasonal demands of an agricultural operation which may include weekends as needed periodicallyWillingness and ability to work with whomever and wherever you are scheduledComplete basic math calculationsHave a high attention to detail and accuracyDemonstrated ability to communicate well with co-workers and have positive referencesSelf-directed, yet consensus driven, with the ability to implement solutions with team input Expected Hours of Work Greenhouse production is highly seasonal. During busy periods, employees may be scheduled for additional hours/days to meet production demands.During slower periods, scheduled hours may be reduced. Compensation We are proud to offer a competitive and comprehensive package for our team members. This position is compensated commensurate with experience, with a targeted pay range of $15.16 per hour.
