Pay

$19–$21/hour based on experience. A seasonal bonus may be provided based on attendance and performance at the end of the completed harvest season.

Schedule

This is a full-time seasonal position. Typical workdays are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during peak work hours. From September until November, hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations; fully participate in company safety programs.
  • Perform critical operations to keep the facility running.
  • Assist in all areas of unloading, loading, and transferring grain and grain products, including barge, truck, and rail operations.
  • Develop knowledge of the product and its hazardous properties.
  • Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment used in shipping, receiving, and transferring grain and grain products, including associated safety systems.
  • Provide a high level of customer service through courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interactions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in grain handling areas (tunnels, head house, concrete grounds, grass areas, etc.) and other delegated plant areas.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure it is in good working order; participate in overall facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Notify management of necessary repairs or equipment concerns.
  • Remove choke-ups, clean spills, and follow proper safety policies.
  • Be an engaged team member, willing to act and think independently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in an outdoor environment with exposure to grain dust, weather elements, and heavy truck and machinery activity.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, handle heights up to 150 feet, and work in all weather conditions.
  • This is a manual labor job requiring repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work long hours on a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
