About the Role
This position is responsible for safely driving a propane delivery vehicle to customer locations in an efficient, punctual, and safe manner while maintaining and improving customer satisfaction. The role requires a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward safety, sales, customer service, and teamwork. Overtime is possible during the heating season.
Under general supervision, the position involves making deliveries in all types of weather and conditions, including entering customers’ homes or places of business. Employees must be capable of frequently lifting 50–60 pounds and working in hot attics, cold spaces, or small working areas while maintaining a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Loads, secures, transports, delivers, and unloads propane to and from specified destinations.
- Inspects vehicle daily and notifies supervisor of needed equipment, supplies, or routine maintenance.
- Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulations and company procedures.
- Operates truck in accordance with established safety procedures and ensures all DOT requirements are met at all times.
- Engages in daily interaction with customers, providing exceptional service by supplying information and answering inquiries.
- Assists with sales initiatives and performs responsibilities in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency deliveries.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including yard and plant maintenance or dock work.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brakes endorsements.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience; Hazmat experience preferred but not required.
- Must pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug test, and Homeland Security background check.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather and driving conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a willingness to take direction from management.
- Flexibility to work outside of basic job description and in an on-call rotation for emergencies.
- Capable of frequently lifting cylinders weighing 40–60 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of work-related experience.
Working Conditions
- Driving a company vehicle in the field, including entering customers’ homes or places of business.
- Occasional exposure to small working spaces, fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Exposure to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
- Physical demands include regular lifting of 50–60 pounds and working in hot attics or cold spaces.
