Must be available to work November through January, including the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Weekend availability is required. Opportunity for continued employment after the holidays.
Responsibilities
- Greets and provides specialized services to customers.
- Performs transactions quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
- Provides layaway services, explains policies and requirements.
- Processes refunds, merchandise exchanges, and price adjustments in accordance with NEX policy.
- Takes and places customer special orders, computes cost, and takes required deposits.
- Places orders promptly, follows up with buyers/vendors, and updates customers on delivery status.
- Monitors and tracks rain checks, orders, and deliveries; advises customers of receipt and pickup arrangements.
- Adjusts selling prices and computes necessary accounting documentation.
- Assists customers in opening NEXCARD accounts, provides program information, and answers account-related questions.
- Accepts NEXCARD payments.
- Resolves customer problems and complaints tactfully and intelligently; escalates nonroutine issues to higher authority.
- Interacts professionally with customers and coworkers, adhering to NEX dress codes and uniform standards.
- Communicates information knowledgeably and legibly, follows up on commitments, and ensures successful sales encounters.
- Reviews stock assortments and communicates customer preferences, needs, and problems to supervisors.
- Participates in department meetings and shares ideas for improving customer service and achieving sales goals.
- Performs cash register transactions (cash, charge, check, layaway, gift certificates) accurately and correctly.
- Shops competitors to stay informed about retail sales events, policies, and best practices.
- Advises customers on upcoming sales events and NEX services (gift wrapping, engraving, delivery, gift certificates).
- Maintains awareness in assigned areas to deter theft and provide excellent customer service.
- Completes paperwork for merchandise inventory, price adjustments, customer returns, and cash register operations accurately.
- Assists in training new associates on store programs and policies as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of responsible experience in clerical, office, or retail sales work demonstrating ability to perform satisfactorily in the role.
- Education substitution: One-half academic year of college/university study may substitute for 6 months of experience.
Primary location: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
