Seasonal Communications Associate (Full-Time)
About the role
Positioned within HBSE’s Basketball Communications department, this seasonal role supports media operations, communications, and storytelling for the Philadelphia 76ers. The position is integral to the team’s external messaging, media logistics, and game-night execution, working closely with department members and stakeholders across the NBA season, including preseason and playoffs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to produce and distribute external communications, including press releases, game notes, and media guides
- Compile team and individual records, statistics, milestones, and narratives for broadcast partners and internal stakeholders
- Support game-night operations during home games, preseason, and NBA Playoffs to ensure logistics meet department standards
- Create and distribute media credentials for local, national, and visiting media; maintain accurate attendance records
- Transcribe press conferences and interviews for basketball operations and media use
- Distribute box scores and team information via email to media lists on home game nights
- Monitor and share news and articles with the 76ers Basketball Communications team
- Compile daily clips and articles for HBSE portfolio news briefing
- Assist with media availability processes at shootarounds, practices, and games
- Travel with the team for 76ers games as needed to support Basketball Communications
- Contribute ideas for off-court stories in collaboration with the Basketball Communications department
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous professional communications experience preferred
- Prior experience working with media members preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to grammar and spelling
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- High typing proficiency required for transcribing press conferences and interviews
- Discretion and trustworthiness with confidential information
- Ability to multitask and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and media monitoring services
- Strong understanding of the NBA landscape and the 76ers’ franchise history
- Demonstrated knowledge of basketball statistics
- Strategic mindset and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Working Conditions
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required, including between HBSE offices; trips may involve air travel and/or overnight stays
- Work Environment: Primary work location is the 76ers office in Camden, NJ, and Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, PA
- Schedule: Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on game schedule
- Physical Requirements: Ability to move up to 25 pounds
Pay
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $40,000 and $45,000 per season. Overtime pay will be provided for qualifying hours. Base pay may vary based on individualized factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position is at-will, and compensation may be adjusted based on performance, team performance, and market factors.
