Seasonal Building Supervisor / Zamboni Operator

About the role

Responsible for the supervision and operation of the K.B. Willett Ice Arena. Position is 10–35 hours per week, primarily evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all building activities on and off the ice surface
• Monitor all patrons inside the facility and the entire building structure
• Supervise employees and volunteers when Facilities Supervisors are not present
• Enforce K.B. Willett policies and procedures outlined in the employee manual
• Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance; wear the provided jacket while working
• Set up for scheduled activities
• Resurface the ice at appropriate times
• Keep users on schedule
• Walk through the entire building (upstairs and downstairs) regularly to check on patrons and staff
• Manage locker-room assignment schedules
• Complete the daily Supervisor report form
• Handle daily cash from all staff and cash registers
• Clear snow, salt entryways, and clean the facility
• Secure all doors and rooms at closing
• Communicate with supervisors

Requirements

• Knowledge of ice facility maintenance and custodial operations, including skills, terminology, tools, and materials
• Ability to supervise, motivate, and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates
• Ability to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm
• Experience operating and maintaining a Zamboni or willingness to learn
• Good public relation skills
• Ability to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
• Physical ability to bend, twist, squat occasionally for 6–8 hours per day and lift 50–100 pounds
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written directions
• Ability to continuously walk or stand for 4–8 hours
• Proficient knowledge of sharpening hockey and figure skates or willingness to learn

Pay

$18.28 hourly
