About the Role
The Seasonal Bookstore Associate position at the Billy Graham Library assists the retail operations of Ruth’s Attic Bookstore, including customer service, check-out, and stocking. The Library supports BGEA’s mission to proclaim the Gospel and equip Christians through tours, events, and resources.
All employees are expected to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their employment, furthering BGEA’s religious mission.
Ministry Requirements
- Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Him
- Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
- Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions, including Bible reading and leading group prayer as scheduled
- Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
- Effectively represents Jesus Christ within both personal and professional spheres of influence
Responsibilities
- Operate the retail Point of Sale System and handle cash with accuracy
- Provide excellent customer service in the Bookstore
- Answer guest questions about inventory availability using the computer database
- Stock the store, including labeling products
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in the store and stock rooms
- Process telephone and special orders
- Assist in opening and closing cash registers, including reconciling daily receipts
- Perform administrative tasks as directed
- Assist in annual physical inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent experience required
- One year of retail experience preferred
- Experience with or capacity to learn the Point of Sale system (Bookstore Manager)
- Ability to operate office equipment (telephone, copy machine, calculator, etc.)
- Competent in computer skills
- Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English
- Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, patient, and calm in all situations
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them in a timely manner
- Clear oral and written communication skills
Physical/Mental Demands
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to enter data for extended periods
- Ability to receive and stock inventory, including lifting up to 30 lbs
- Ability to push stocked carts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility when priorities change
- Capacity to prioritize work and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions
- Work is typically performed in a retail store environment
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
- Willingness to work overtime, early, or late if necessary

Associate or Seasonal employees working up to 19 hours per week (not exceeding 1,000 hours per year) are not eligible for benefits.
