Responsibilities
- Uphold compliance with regulations governing the Sandy Neck Barrier Beach.
- Provide detailed information about environmental processes and resource management at Sandy Neck.
- Assist Marine and Environmental Affairs Division with functions at other locations within the town.
- Inform the public about science and management concepts to enforce regulations and restrictions on visitor activities.
- Represent and promote the interests, goals, and policies of the Town of Barnstable and Sandy Neck.
Requirements
- High School graduation with college level coursework in resource management, parks, environmental science, teaching, criminal justice, or related field.
- Two years experience in resource management, security, or nature education preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR required; L.G.T., First Responder, Wilderness, or other advanced medical certification preferred.
- Valid license for operating motor vehicles in Massachusetts.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable of the principles of natural resource management and biological processes.
- Effective communication skills to convey knowledge to individuals from various age groups, educational levels, and backgrounds.
- Cognizant of legal ramifications of endangered species legislation, property ownership, public lands, and medical liability.
- Able to assess complex situations under pressure and deal with caustic people appropriately.
