About the role
Welcome as an Alterations Specialist at David’s Bridal, where you’ll join a dynamic team dedicated to making dreams come true. You’ll be part of a company that leads its category, with 1 out of 3 items sold being a David’s Bridal product. Your role involves fitting and altering dresses to perfection, ensuring a flawless shopping experience for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming customers with genuine enthusiasm and providing excellent service over the phone, in person, and through virtual chats.
- Using all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five-star customer experience.
- Maintaining service levels by being prepared, welcoming, meeting the needs of customers, and being there for them.
- Proactively addressing customer concerns with confidence and knowing when to escalate issues.
- Promoting alteration services and personalization options, assisting stylists in closing sales, and consulting with customers about gown fit and customization.
- Maintaining store standards to ensure a flawless shopping experience.
- Managing inventory, processing special orders, and ensuring first-quality standards for all merchandise.
- Ensuring alteration pricing aligns with company standards and managing all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments.
- Resolving customer service issues in a swift and effective manner while adhering to company guidelines.
- Supporting cash wrap behaviors and processes transactions accurately to make every customer feel celebrated.
- Maintaining the alterations room in a clean and organized state.
- Performing duties and tasks assigned by store management.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent degree.
- 1-2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
- Prior sewing experience, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production environment.
- Prior experience with computerized POS (Point of Sale) system is a plus.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to perform non-selling responsibilities, such as using POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, accessing computers, and receiving or initiating telephone calls.
- Manual dexterity to sew and perform fittings to David’s Bridal standards, as needed.
- Ability to see up close and at a distance, use peripheral vision and depth perception, and use computers, electronic devices, and phones for long periods.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Technical expertise in alterations and fitting.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with POS systems.

Pay
The starting rate of pay offered will vary based on factors including but not limited to, position offered, location, training, and/or experience, and internal equity. This base pay range of $17-21/hr is specific to the state this role is posted in and may not be applicable to other locations.
