Seamstress/Tailor

About the role

GALLS, LLC is the largest and fastest-growing supplier of uniforms and equipment to public safety professionals, with a national presence in more than 80 locations and over 50 years in the industry. As a Tailor/Seamstress (Production Associate), you will be hands-on altering the uniforms and equipment of our nation’s public safety professionals, ensuring all measurements and fittings are completed properly, accurately, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Read and accurately identify the customer’s needs per the Work Instruction Document
• Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations, with the ability to problem-solve individual sizing issues
• Operate a heat press safely and efficiently
• Perform uniform sewing, alterations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency, including:
  • Taking up stride
  • Lengthening/shortening tails on shirts
  • Tapering shirts
  • Adjusting waists
  • Hemming trousers
  • Mending tears
  • Replacing zippers
  • Applying patches, name strips, striping
• Operate industrial sewing machinery and meet production deadlines
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Previous experience in alterations preferred (training provided)
• Well-versed in industrial sewing machines preferred (training provided)
• Ability to effectively read/receive work instructions in English
• Extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused
• Solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods, bend, stretch, twist, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation
