About the role
This position assists customers in their shopping experience by receiving, cutting, and serving seafood products efficiently, friendlily, and courteously.
Responsibilities
- Follow all guidelines for proper techniques of cutting and/or preparing items for display cases.
- Maintain product expiration dates and ensure all items are properly rotated.
- Monitor products for any damaged, un-saleable, or returnable items and follow proper procedures for damage claims.
- Accurately count and record merchandise during the inventory process.
- Quickly and accurately change shelf tags, price markers, and label merchandise.
- Be knowledgeable about department items, procedures, and policies to answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
- Assist customers at the counter by weighing, wrapping, and pricing selected items.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards to achieve desired team and individual results.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and recognize when involving a member of the store management team is appropriate.
- Implement Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
- Unload and sort incoming shipments, neatly stock them, and match item UPC codes to shelf tags.
- Keep work area and department clean and safe for customers and coworkers.
- Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
- Show basic math and reading skills required for the position.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Promote new items and weekly specials through effective merchandising and creative displays.
- Closely monitor the department for potential security issues and report any concerns to a member of the department or store management team.
- Support the company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed, and gaining new skills when necessary.
Physical Abilities
- Reach overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 72 inches, twist at the waist, lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Push and pull grocery items to the proper locations as needed, exert a peak force of 20 lbs.
- Stand and walk for long periods on hard surfaces.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Bend and squat, sometimes to floor level.
- Work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers.
- Climb a ladder, possibly up to 5 feet.
