Seafood Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising.
• Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
• Assist the Team Leader in analysis of sales data, reports, and labor metrics.
• Support annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation.
• Assist with ordering and inventory management.
• Collaborate with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues.
• Serve as the point person and departmental lead in the absence of the Team Leader.
• Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
• Foster a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and high morale.
• Monitor customer flows, direct Team Members to satisfy and delight customers, and respond promptly to customer needs.
• Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high‑performance team and minimize turnover.
• Communicate and uphold Team Member safety and security standards.
• Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of retail Team Member experience.
• At least 6 months of supervisory experience.
• Proficient mathematical and analytical skills for financial and inventory management.
• Strong interpersonal, motivational, and team‑building abilities.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
• Thorough product knowledge and advanced regulatory/safety awareness.
• Effective decision‑making, leadership, prioritization, and delegation skills.
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and relevant operational software.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Standing/walking for 6–8 hours during an 8‑hour shift.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Frequent motions: bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.
• Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
• Temperature exposure: below 32 °F (freezing), 32‑40 °F (refrigerators), and above 90 °F.
• Work in wet and cold environments; ability to handle knives and cutting equipment.
• Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Use of tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $19.05–$33.20 hourly, commensurate with experience.
