PURPOSE

Aid teachers with various instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.

Work Schedule

School year
Work Hours: Shifts typically between 7:15am and 3:30pm, with exact times varying based on school needs and position hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs preferred
  • Flexible to meet changing student needs
  • Strong tutorial skills
  • Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents
  • Desire to see young people succeed
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Strong office computer and communication skills
  • Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
  • Basic instructional methods and techniques
  • Willingness to supervise students in community settings
  • Participation in Special Education Department training
  • Two years of college experience from an accredited college, a two-year college degree, passed the Para-Pro Assessment, one year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children, completed annual school-level evaluations, and completed 48 credit hours of college level classes from an accredited college, or Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials for highly-qualified status
