On-siteScienceFull-time

About the role

Join EAG Laboratories as a Scientist specializing in Thermal Analysis and Materials Characterization. You will perform hands‑on materials characterization, interpret and report high‑quality analytical data, and work directly with clients to support real‑world technical investigations. Discuss thermal and mechanical analysis data and experimental design with clients, connecting results to materials, manufacturing, reliability, and product development challenges. Our clients include leading technology companies, consumer product manufacturers, biotech firms, and aerospace suppliers in early product development. You will operate advanced analytical instrumentation, collaborate with peers to understand technical problems, determine the appropriate analytical approach, and provide meaningful insight into material behavior and performance. The environment emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and diversity, encouraging you to bring your authentic self to work while contributing to the safety, reliability, and performance of products used worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands‑on materials characterization and interpret/report high‑quality analytical data.
  • Discuss thermal and mechanical analysis data and experimental design with clients, linking results to material, manufacturing, reliability, and product development challenges.
  • Plan upcoming analyses and determine appropriate testing conditions.
  • Prepare samples, set up instrumentation, and acquire new data.
  • Evaluate thermal transitions, dimensional changes, mechanical response, or rheological behavior based on the analytical technique used.
  • Participate in internal group meetings to coordinate instrument use and meet client deadlines.
  • Speak directly with customers about previous results or questions regarding future analyses.
  • Work with the commercial team and customers to understand technical problems and determine how analytical capabilities can address them.
  • Develop or improve analytical methods for new or challenging materials.
  • Produce technical or marketing materials or contribute to scientific papers.
  • Work with internal support teams and instrument vendors to troubleshoot and optimize equipment.
  • Develop expertise in adjacent materials characterization techniques.
  • Manage all stages of the analytical process: experimental design, sample preparation, selecting/optimizing test conditions, operating/troubleshooting instrumentation, acquiring/interpreting data, and writing technical reports.
  • Look beyond the data to explain what results mean for a client's material, process, or product.
  • Organize, communicate, and collaborate on multiple concurrent client projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder, or Political Asylee/Refuge).
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial or laboratory experience, including at least 2 years of hands‑on experience with DMA, TMA, and/or rheometry.
  • Strong understanding of thermal, mechanical, and/or viscoelastic properties of materials, particularly polymers and polymer‑based materials.
  • Experience designing experiments, selecting appropriate test conditions, interpreting analytical results, and connecting those results to material properties and performance.
  • Experience solving materials‑related technical problems and investigating material behavior or performance.
  • Experience with instrument operation, method development, maintenance
