Scientist - Microbial Biorepository Collaborative Center (HMI)

Job Responsibilities

• Captures and coordinates multiple aspects of research projects.
• Laboratory experiments utilizing various techniques are carried out.
• Determines if additional or alternative tools/methods are necessary.
• Provides input regarding research protocols and experiments.
• Sets up protocols and assists in developing new laboratory techniques.
• Identifies experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem.
• Processes, organizes, and summarizes data, reporting these results.
• Maintains quality and integrity of recorded information and data.
• Drafts sections of research manuscripts.
• Supports basic lab operations such as equipment maintenance, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required.
• Six (6) years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree is required.
• Three (3) years of relevant work experience with a PhD is required.

Qualifications

• Strong background in microbiology with extensive hands-on experience in genetic and phenotypic characterization of diverse bacterial species.
• Demonstrated research productivity in bacteriology.
• Leadership and independent research skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, timely records and manage complex databases and multiple project needs.
