Duration: 12-month contract (possibility of extension based on business needs and performance).
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Scientist to support materials science and characterization activities within a large enterprise environment. The role focuses on evaluating pharmaceutical materials using advanced analytical and characterization techniques to support product development and technical investigations.
Responsibilities
- Perform characterization studies on pharmaceutical materials to support development programs and laboratory investigations.
- Conduct microscopy and spectroscopy-based testing using established laboratory methods.
- Perform physical characterization testing using XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS, particle size analysis, and related analytical techniques.
- Interpret scientific data and communicate findings through technical presentations and discussions.
- Support root cause investigations and technical problem-solving activities.
- Document experimental procedures and results accurately in an electronic laboratory notebook.
- Assist with method execution, troubleshooting, and data review.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support development and characterization activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science with relevant experience or Master of Science in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or another Physical Science.
- Hands-on experience with one or more characterization techniques including XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS, particle size analysis, optical microscopy, SEM, IR spectroscopy, or Raman spectroscopy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience performing laboratory testing and scientific data interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Micro CT.
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical development programs.
- Experience with technical investigations and data trending.
- Experience with additional microscopy or spectroscopy techniques.
Pay
$30 to $40 an hour.
