About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Scientist to join our Microbiome Discovery & Colonization Switch team. This role will play a key part in advancing our understanding of microbiome dynamics and developing innovative strategies to modulate microbial communities for therapeutic benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead experimental design and execution to investigate microbiome colonization and switching mechanisms.
  • Develop and optimize assays to profile microbial communities and functional outputs.
  • Analyze complex microbiome datasets to identify key drivers of colonization and stability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate findings into therapeutic strategies.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the scientific direction of the team.

Requirements

  • PhD in Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in microbiome research.
  • Strong background in microbial cultivation, metagenomics, and bioinformatics.
  • Experience with animal models or in vivo microbiome studies is a plus.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications and presentations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Skills

  • Microbial cultivation and anaerobic microbiology techniques.
  • Next-generation sequencing and microbiome bioinformatics (e.g., QIIME, DADA2, MetaPhlAn).
  • Statistical analysis and data visualization (R, Python, or similar).
  • Familiarity with synthetic biology and microbiome engineering tools.
  • Project management and leadership experience.
