About the role
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist II to join a well-established and collaborative research program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, cutting-edge research using state-of-the-art laboratory techniques and methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Independently design, conduct, and analyze complex experiments and research projects, as well as generate and interpret statistical datasets.
- Provide scientific leadership and oversee projects involving laboratory staff, graduate students, and research trainees.
- Evaluate research progress, analyze results, implement improvements to laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure the successful execution of research objectives.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for laboratory personnel by providing technical guidance and experimental support to staff, scholars, and graduate students.
- Independently troubleshoot experimental and technical challenges, contribute to scientific publications and presentations, and help foster a collaborative and productive research environment.
Requirements
Lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods of time
Shift M-F 8a-5p with weekends as needed
