About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Scientist I to join the Materials Science & Characterization Team in support of pharmaceutical development, technical problem solving, and laboratory investigations. In this 12-month contract role, you will apply microscopy, microanalysis, and physical characterization techniques to test materials, evaluate product- and process-related issues, and generate scientific data that informs development decisions across the product lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science + Experience or Master of Science
- Experience with one or more of the following: microscopy (optical, SEM) and imaging (IR, Raman) techniques, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic vapor sorption (DVS), particle size analysis, X-Ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and IR and Raman spectroscopy
- Quick learner and adapts to continuous change
- Good communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Support characterization studies of pharmaceutical materials across development programs and root cause investigations
- Perform microscopy and spectroscopy-based testing
- Perform physical characterization testing using one or more of the following techniques: Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS), Particle size analysis, X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD)
- Interpret data and communicate findings through presentations and scientific discussions
- Assist with root cause investigations, data trending, and technical problem solving
- Document experimental work clearly and accurately in ELN
- Support method execution, troubleshooting, and data review as needed
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety practices and relevant regulations
