Scientist I - Consortium for Defense Psychology

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and operational leadership for the day-to-day management of clinical research activities.
  • Serve as a liaison for communicating with research implementation sites.
  • Ensure effective use of Center resources and personnel time.
  • Process and interpret experimental data, working alongside statistical consultants.
  • Formulate experimental hypotheses and design experimental protocols.
  • Make scientific observations, maintain detailed workbooks/documentation, and ensure documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards.
  • Cook up and contribute to new grant and funding applications.
  • Coordinate and contribute to new grant and funding applications.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with scientific collaborators.
  • Serve as a representative of the Center and in this capacity, demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Design and plan for new activities and projects.
  • Aid in the preparation and submission of applications to secure intramural and extramural funding to further support the activities of the Center.
  • Draft scientific/scholarly manuscripts for publication in coordination with the PI.
  • May present at national conferences to disseminate the work conducted by the Center.
  • May participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of research personnel.
  • Perform limited budgetary oversight, to include planning/forecasting, preparing, and approving budgetary changes in coordination with appropriate Center personnel.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience required.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of behavioral health and public health research including, but not limited to: clinical trials methodology; implementation science, survey research methodology, regulatory processes & procedures.
  • Ability to assist with drafting IRB paperwork and tracking submissions to IRBs.
  • Knowledge of applicable, complex scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others.
