About the role

The Scientist I will be working in operations of AbbVie's Regulated Bioanalysis department. The primary responsibility will be supporting clinical and non-clinical projects by analyzing biological samples for drugs and metabolites under GLP regulation. The individual will also have opportunities to contribute to broader areas within QTAS as their experience and expertise warrants.

Responsibilities

  • Impact projects primarily through laboratory activities.
  • Independently design and conduct critical experiments that further project goals.
  • Interpret results and draw conclusions from own multistage experiments, note significant deviations, then suggest, design, and pursue relevant experiments.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving trends in separations and mass spectrometry.
  • Use and manage biohazardous matrices (e.g., plasma, serum, urine, blood, etc.).
  • Perform routine and complex tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex LC systems and ultra-sensitive mass spectrometers.
  • Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 5 or more years of experience, or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience required).
  • Experience with Hamilton Starlet automated liquid handling instruments.
  • Experience with operating Shimadzu Chromatography instruments.
  • Experience with operating API4000, API5000, API5500, and API6500 Applied Biosystems Mass Spectrometers.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebook software, WATSON Laboratory Information Management Software (LIMS), and Applied Biosystems Analyst Software.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines for bioanalysis and experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in managing multiple projects and priorities, and work well within a team.
  • Desire to learn specific techniques for bioanalysis.

Pay

The compensation range described is the range of possible base pay the company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of posting, based on the job grade. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on geographic location, and the company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
