Scientist I

About the role

The position is a Scientist I role located in Sparks, MD. It is a 12+ months contract with 40 hours per week on a first shift.

Responsibilities

• Takes direction from Scientist in the group of testing and other tasks.
• May include preparation of microbiological media, inspection of prepared media for cosmetic or other defects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have microbiology experience, especially working in a micro lab and making media.
• Must have 1-2 years of professional experience with creating and preparing microbiological media in a GLP/GMP environment.
• Must be trained in/experience working with bacterial cultures.
• Must be skilled in the use of aseptic technique.
• Must be capable of evaluating test results and drawing conclusions.
• Must be efficient in using scales, balances, and pH meters.
• Must have experience in preparation of microbiological media.

Qualifications

• A B.S. in Microbiology or a related Life Science is preferred but not required.
• Must have basic knowledge in a broad range of laboratory techniques such as pH measurement, weighing of materials, and microbiology lab skills.
• Must have a history of self-motivation with a background in biological lab science.
• Must have experience in handling biological samples and knowledge of GLP.
• Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills in a team environment and a desire to work within a team.
• Must be capable of readily identifying and analyzing problems.

Skills

• Basic Knowledge in a broad range of laboratory techniques; pH measurement, weighing of materials, microbiology lab skills is preferred.
• History of self motivation with a background in biological lab science.
• Experience in handling biological samples and knowledge of GLP.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in a team environment as well as a desire to work within a team.
• Capable of readily identifying and analyzing problems.
