Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned experiments and routine experimental techniques in accordance with established protocols and procedures within the functional area.
  • Support testing of new technologies and targets for research, contributing to the evaluation and advancement of medical device products.
  • Generate high-quality experimental data to support internal documents, posters, and presentations.
  • Apply basic data analysis techniques and develop an understanding of more complex analyses, including identifying issues with data and comparing results to historical data.
  • Summarize experimental results and contribute to the preparation of technical reports, including thorough and accurate lab notebook and experimental documentation.
  • Participate as an extended team member in planning and executing experiments, collaborating effectively with colleagues across the functional area.
  • Order laboratory supplies and submit sample requests as directed, following standard operating procedures for materials receiving and inventory control.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and, as needed, generate and execute equipment installation qualification and operational qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols.
  • Adhere to all environmental health and safety (EH&S) procedures and general housekeeping standard operating procedures to maintain a safe and orderly laboratory environment.
  • Comply with site- and department-specific procedures related to record keeping, use of log books, materials receiving, and inventory management.
  • Complete time records accurately and report project time allocation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in implementing solutions for laboratory and infrastructure improvements when requested.
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Communicate complex scientific and technical ideas clearly and simply, both orally and in writing, to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a timeline-driven environment, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and to a high standard of quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related Engineering field.
  • 2+ years of experience in the medical device industry.
  • Hands-on experience with test methods and method development in a laboratory setting.

About the role

The Scientist I role is an onsite position at the Arbor Lakes facility for an early-career scientist or engineer who brings a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, or a related engineering discipline and at least two years of medical device experience. You will apply your technical skills and commitment to quality to execute experiments, analyze data, and support the development and testing of new technologies within a highly regulated environment. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to method development, test execution, and documentation that support internal reports, presentations, and quality system requirements, while continually expanding your knowledge of scientific concepts, business practices, and core technologies.
