About the role
In this role, you will conduct cellular and molecular research across a range of neurodegenerative diseases to enhance our understanding of underlying disease mechanisms. Responsibilities include the discovery and validation of therapeutic targets and participation in drug discovery programs. This is a hands-on, collaborative position requiring regular interaction with colleagues within the Department and across Genentech’s Early Research and Development (gRED) organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments in cellular and molecular neuroscience.
- Generate and interpret data to advance understanding of neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.
- Discover and validate therapeutic targets.
- Participate in drug discovery programs.
- Present findings to internal teams and collaborators.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of professional work experience.
- Track record of consistent scientific productivity.
Skills
- Experience with generation of primary rodent cultures.
- Competency in live cell imaging and image analysis (e.g., IncuCyte, ImageXpress, or similar platforms).
- Proficiency in cellular biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques.
- Strong communication skills for collaborative environments.
- Additional desirable skills:
- In vivo experience with rodent models.
- Experience with genome-wide genetic screens.
- Basic bioinformatics skills.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position in California is $85,500 – $158,700 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
