About the role

The Scientific Program Leader supports the Shipman Lab and the Gladstone Phage Therapy Center. The Shipman Lab focuses on molecular biotechnology to understand and treat disease, while the Gladstone Phage Therapy Center aims to develop next-generation preclinical assays and computational tools to combat multidrug-resistant pathogens.

Responsibilities

  • Provide centralized management and communication for scientific projects and cores, including setting schedules, organizing monthly meetings, and tracking progress to promptly address breakthroughs or hurdles.
  • Manage and efficiently deploy resources, including consolidating the purchase of shared reagents or equipment for cost savings, and making real-time budget adjustments when strategy or deliverables shift.
  • Support innovative research through an internal granting program that provides short-term research awards to Gladstone/UCSF or external scientists whose work aligns with the Center’s objectives.
  • Promote the mission over time by identifying future funding opportunities and coordinating grant applications.

Qualifications

  • PhD and 3+ years postdoc or professional experience
  • Expertise in biotechnology, phage biology, sequencing, molecular biology, or related fields
  • Experience managing teams and budgets

Salary

$100k-$125K
