Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver a quality instructional program based upon state standards, curriculum, and effective instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Teach content and skills in subject area utilizing curriculum designated by LCCPS.
  • Participate in meetings and work collaboratively on projects.
  • Teach students of the full range of abilities and interests.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum, instructional materials, assessment tools, and lesson plans for students of differing ages, levels, and abilities, including beginning English-language learners to advanced proficiency.
  • Plan and provide clear, intentional focused instruction using state standards, subject matter content, curriculum, and student needs.
  • Support all students, including those who are linguistically diverse and who have an IEP or 504 plan.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and model independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoning.
  • Build strong relationships with all students and recognize individual student learning needs to promote individual achievement.
  • Implement effective teaching practices to facilitate achievement for each student.
  • Use multiple student data sources to assess student progress, modify instruction, and improve student learning.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and build positive relationships with parents to foster student success and achievement.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment to promote effective student behavior and success.
  • Participate in meetings to implement school initiatives and address student needs.
  • Implement and comply with School policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Lead Morning Meeting, Advisory meetings, or Restorative Circles several times a week.
  • Plan and deliver an enrichment block several times a week.
  • Deliver Leader in Me curriculum once per week.

Requirements

  • Valid MA State certification with appropriate endorsement(s).
  • Believes that smart is something everyone can get.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful and recent experience as a school teacher in the posted subject area.
  • Second language or language acquisition background.
  • Experience working with students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures.
