Starting salary: $48,967.10. 190-day position within the State Teachers Retirement System. Collective Bargaining Unit: AEA.

Qualifications

  • Valid State of Ohio 7-12 licensure in Science (required).
  • Master’s degree or equivalency in education in Science (desired).
  • Experience with a multi-cultural population.
  • Commitment to working with students, professionals, and community members in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other teachers in curriculum development.
  • Interest in the creative process and appreciation for its products.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and working with students and staff.
  • Willingness to participate in staff and curriculum development, with or without released time.
  • Creative initiative in helping students attain their maximum potential.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other school personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals.
  • Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities, with written evidence of preparation available upon request.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interest.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop and maintain fair classroom behavior rules.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers, and evaluate their performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Accept responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Report to and carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
