About the role

New Haven teachers are offered a variety of leadership development opportunities including but not limited to curriculum facilitator, teacher facilitator and the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Teach science to students in grades 7 and 8
  • Engage in professional development opportunities provided by the New Haven Federation of Teachers
  • Participate in the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain the certification requirements as established by Connecticut State Statutes, specifically Science Certification Grades 7-12 (034, 234, 033, 233)
  • Must be able to engage in professional development opportunities and participate in the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Science Education preferred
  • Experience teaching science at the middle school level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Skills

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices

Salary contingent on degree and years of experience, ranging from $53,220 to $108,047.
