Science Teacher (Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics - 9-12)

Our Mission: The Charter School for Applied Technologies prepares students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. CSAT opened in 2001 as a 700-student school serving grades K-6. Today, it is a campus of three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) hosting approximately 2,300 students from 19 school districts across Western New York.

About the role

The CSAT teacher is responsible for communicating knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner. Teachers use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources, work as team members sharing planning and professional-development responsibilities, administer student assessments, communicate with parents about student progress, and integrate technology into teaching and professional activities.

Responsibilities

• Implement school and district policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with team members on curriculum and student needs.
• Create and maintain ongoing communication with parents.
• Participate in curriculum development and implementation.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations.
• Establish and manage student-directed classrooms where students work independently and in groups.
• Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment.
• Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication; learn new applications.
• Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, be creative, and develop to their full potential.
• Write, implement, and evaluate your own professional-development plans.
• Develop family-school relationships that foster academic and social development.
• Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers on the team in areas of personal expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and completion of all required student-teaching experiences.
• At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating.
• Three positive recommendations from professional individuals.
• Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills.
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
• Highly organized, independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Pay

Salary range: $50,505 – $63,679 (competitive).

Schedule

10-month, full-time, exempt position; start date as soon as possible.
