The Teacher provides high-quality instruction that supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and engagement in learning. At CISD, this role ensures students receive rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for future academic and career opportunities. Teachers build positive classroom environments, monitor student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure every student receives the support needed to succeed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution and valid Texas teaching certification required in the appropriate content or grade level area. Strong knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum standards, and classroom management strategies is necessary. Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community partners is required, along with strong instructional, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Major Responsibilities And Duties

  • Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum
  • Deliver engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking and student participation
  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback to students
  • Establish a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities and participate in professional development and school initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians

Working Conditions

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Environment: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours. Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions
