Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate, and instruct students
- Instruct students based on the REACH curriculum using available instructional technologies
- Regularly evaluate student performance and monitor achievement of state standards
- Act as a role model to motivate students while maintaining an approachable personality
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance
- Track and record student progress for progress reports and report card conferences
- Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times
- Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks
- Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity
- Submit lesson plans and unit plans in a timely manner
- Instruct scholars in line with REACH-developed curriculum
- Actively participate in professional development, coaching sessions, and weekly team planning
- Incorporate feedback from coaches in a timely manner
- Analyze scholar data and engage in self-reflection on teaching practices
- Prepare scholars for the NYS Science exam
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in subject area to be taught; Master’s Degree preferred
- Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred
- Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School’s core beliefs and educational philosophy
- Valid New York State Certification (exceptions may be made by the Head of School in compliance with applicable laws)
- Preferred certifications: Chemistry & General Science 7-9 Ext. {5042}, Earth Science Grades 7-9 Ext. {4048}, Earth Science & General Science 7-9 Ext. {5082}
Pay
Salary is in accordance with REACH Academy Charter School’s salary step scale, ranging from $45,000 (Step 1) to $65,830 (Step 11). A valid teaching certificate or progress toward certification is required to start on the salary steps. Benefits begin after 40 school days of teaching.
Schedule
School days run from 6:50 AM to 2:30 PM, with one day per week extending to 4:00 PM for planning.
