About the Role
The Research Specialist is a key contributor to our core lab, performing essential sample preparation procedures including nucleic acid extraction, quantification and library preparation, ensuring high-quality, reproducible data for our research community. Beyond technical execution, the Research Specialist helps to optimize laboratory workflows, troubleshoot instrumentation, maintain meticulous quality records, and train incoming lab members.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample Preparation & Workflow Execution: Perform nucleic acid extraction, QC, and library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS), single-cell genomics, spatial omics, and related applications while maintaining detailed quality documentation.
- Instrumentation Management & Technical Troubleshooting: Operate, monitor, and maintain sequencing instruments, automated liquid handlers, and QC platforms; evaluate run quality metrics, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate vendor maintenance.
- Method Optimization & Process Improvement: Assist in evaluating and implementing emerging genomic technologies and automation, while developing, standardizing, and optimizing protocols to maximize efficiency, data quality, and resource utilization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years related work experience, providing direct assistance to researchers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tissue culture, primary culture, and/or animal handling
- Experience with next-generation sequencing, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, or other advanced molecular genomics technologies
