Main Responsibilities
- Translate in vitro findings into actionable product claims by optimizing experimental designs to meet consumer-relevant performance benchmarks.
- Identify and integrate advanced in vitro and ex vivo models that enhance the predictive accuracy of ingredients, product efficacy and safety assessments.
- Manage and oversee external partnerships to leverage cutting-edge human skin cell culture models and tissue engineering approaches for product innovation.
- Analyze and synthesize external research data to generate insights that inform new product development and formulation strategies.
- Apply biomarker and mechanistic studies to substantiate claims and create next-generation dermatological solutions with a competitive edge.
- Monitor scientific and regulatory trends to anticipate industry shifts and ensure compliance while fostering innovation in skin metabolism and bioassays.
- Select and validate bioactive ingredients based on their alignment with product positioning, efficacy targets, and consumer expectations.
- Substantiate in vitro claims by screening biological properties of new active ingredients, ensuring their relevance to market needs.
- Bridge scientific advancements with market-driven innovation by transforming skin modeling insights into compelling product narratives and differentiated claims.
- Contribute to intellectual property development by identifying patentable innovations and publishing findings that reinforce brand leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in cosmetic development with a background in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related life science discipline in dermatology.
- Solid experience in managing projects.
- Strong understanding of skin metabolism.
- Able to work consistently to high standards, meeting deadlines, and able to work with changing priorities.
- Direct experience using conventional and/or complex in vitro skin tissue culture models, including with primary human skin cell cultures, co-culture systems, 3D reconstituted human epidermis, and human skin organ cultures.
- Strong understanding of cosmetic development process, skin knowledge, and stakeholders network influencing Consumer care business.
- Able to manage multiple projects with autonomy.
- Experience working cross-functionally and building collaborative working relationships.
- Experience in reporting, publishing, and presenting results (internal and external) and in supporting scientific marketing.
About The Compensation
The base salary range for this role is determined based on several factors including job accountabilities, skill sets, experience and training, certifications, work location, competitive market rates, and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the hiring range for this role is $160,000-$185,000. In addition to base salary, we provide an opportunity to participate in an annual short-term incentive program that is based on corporate performance with a multiplier focused on individual performance.
