School Therapist social worker counseling year round

About the role

RIDGEVIEW, a not-for-profit community mental health center specializing in social work, counseling, and therapy, has an immediate opening for a School-Based Behavioral Health Liaison (Outpatient Therapist) to be embedded in Anderson County schools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct therapy to students
• Coach staff on engaging students with behavioral health needs
• Provide face-to-face consultation with classroom teachers
• Create positive, trauma-informed classroom environments
• Enhance the learning environment for children at risk of developing an emotional/behavioral problem or substance use disorder, or with serious emotional disturbance (SED)
• Train and educate regarding childhood mental health and trauma-informed behavior responses in the classroom
• Provide psycho-educational groups and other support as needed to youth identified by teachers and/or other school officials
• Support families and youth with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process and with trauma-informed support plans
• Utilize social work and counseling skills to facilitate the awareness, growth, and psychological development of the client
• Build rapport with the client through empathic listening, caring, and warmth
• Facilitate the resolution of serious issues and conflicts within the family
• Encourage and motivate individuals to tackle their mental health and behavioral problems effectively
• Establish a safe environment and a warm, comfortable therapeutic culture
• Work toward licensure as LCSW, LPC-MHSP, or LMFT if not already licensed

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling
• Experience with children and/or adolescents, especially in a social work or therapy/counseling capacity, preferred, but we will work with the right candidate
