Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language therapy services to support students’ communication and learning needs.
  • Assess students’ speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on student needs and educational goals.
  • Provide therapy to improve communication skills, comprehension, articulation, and social communication.
  • Support students with communication challenges that impact academic performance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student success.
  • Monitor and document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records.
  • Participate in evaluations, student meetings, and individualized education planning.
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to support communication skills in the classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Current, valid, and unrestricted AK license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
  • All SPED Teachers will need at least 2 years of SPED Teaching experience.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Communications Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current Speech Pathologist (SLP) licensure in applicable state.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language-Hearing Association (CCC-ASHA).
  • American Heart Association BLS, for Health Care Providers.
  • 1+ years’ experience as a Speech Pathologist (SLP).

Additional Certifications

  • May be required.
