About the role
The School Safety and Security Site Lead maintains the overall safety, security, and physical integrity of the school campus during after-school hours, evening programs, and special events. This role ensures a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors through active technology monitoring, physical patrols, and conflict de-escalation.
This is a part-time position (FTE 0.7). On student attendance days, the position works 3:00 pm - 9:06 pm. On non-student attendance days, the position works 8:00 am - 2:06 pm.
Responsibilities
- Actively monitor campus security cameras, access control systems, and conduct regular physical rounds of the building and grounds.
- Lead the initiation and coordination of emergency response protocols in accordance with district crisis plans.
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to resolve low-level conflicts or unauthorized presence on campus.
- Respond immediately to address safety concerns and emergency situations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between first responders (police, fire, EMS) and school administration during after-hours incidents.
- Manage access control and visitor management, including verifying authorized access for after-school facility rentals and community groups.
- Promote a safe and professional school environment by observing and reporting security vulnerabilities or safety hazards.
- Maintain inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff and community members while ensuring confidentiality.
- Maintain continuous radio contact with event staff, custodians, and administration.
- Track after-school program schedules and occupancy across the facility.
- Provide regular verbal updates to administration regarding security incidents, policy violations, or operational concerns.
- Submit written reports quarterly and as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with staff, visitors, and first responders.
- Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school and district personnel.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move quickly throughout a multi-story campus for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit at a monitoring station for prolonged periods.
- Knowledge and experience with security software (camera systems and two-way radio equipment).
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school operations preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED Certificate or equivalent.
- Must complete district-approved ALICE training.

Pay
$23.00 - $36.18/hour
Schedule
- Student attendance days: 3:00 pm - 9:06 pm
- Non-student attendance days: 8:00 am - 2:06 pm
- Work calendar follows a 211-day schedule (Calendar 5600).
