Monitoring school safety and serving as a professional law-enforcement presence. The SRO is not merely an armed security guard.
Requirements
- At least 24 years old
- At least 3 years of full-time law enforcement experience prior to SRO assignment
- Completion of the MDE-SRO-Basic Course within two years of appointment OR the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Basic School Resource Officer Training plus eight hours of MDE state-specific content training
- Clear background check
- Clear drug test
- Completion of the Police Officer Basic Course (Reserve Basic is not acceptable)
Candidates must print, complete, and have notarized the appropriate Peace Officer Training Form(s) below. Forms may be uploaded with the application or delivered to the LCSD Central Office.
