School Psychology Intern

About the role

The essential function of the position within the organization, under the supervision of a Supervising School Psychologist, is to participate in the facilitation of the Student Support Process by providing diagnostic, consultative, prevention, and intervention services on behalf of students in preparation for independent functioning as a school psychologist.

Responsibilities

• Receive direct supervision in the practice of administering and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic psycho-educational assessment instruments
• Become familiar with a three-tiered prevention and intervention model of service delivery and knowledgeable of a range of behavioral and academic intervention strategies for consultation with teachers and direct service to students
• Complete student evaluation reports in a timely manner, utilize data systems, and establish cooperative working relationships
• Conduct psycho-educational evaluations
• Participate in Positive Behavior support prevention activities in schools
• Conduct individual and group counseling
• Attend professional training
• Respond to crises and emergencies in the schools
• Conduct classroom observations
• Provide case management including data management
• Participate in Student Support Team meetings for student behavioral and academic interventions
• Participate in Functional Behavioral Assessments and the development of Behavior Implementation Plans
• Provide consultation to parents, teachers, administrators and nurses
• Provide professional training to school personnel
• Serve on school and DECHS committees
• Participate in IEP and 504 team meetings
• Participate in DEC Eligibility Team Meetings
• Collaborate with community agencies, groups, and individuals to assist with provision of services to students and families
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in university graduate school psychology program at the Educational Specialist level or higher
• The intern must have completed all coursework and practical in their program
• Must adhere to applicable professional codes of ethics

Qualifications

• Degree Equivalency Formula: Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience; Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience; where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included
