About the role
The Department of Special Education is seeking a School Psychologist to provide services and social/emotional learning development to students at various Nassau BOCES locations.
Responsibilities
- Conducting psychological re-evaluations
- Developing and monitoring Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Delivering individual and group counseling as per student Individualized Education Plan (IEP) mandates
- Participating in crisis interventions and trainings
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary staff to support student needs
- Conducting parent and district outreach
- Attending annual review meetings and participating in screenings
- Supporting students' social, emotional and behavioral needs
- Maintaining accurate records, counseling logs and Medicaid related documents
Requirements
- New York State Education Department Certification: School Psychologist
- Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
- Experience with Chairing Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, 504 meetings, mandated counseling and risk assessments is preferred
- Experience with FBAs and BIPs, as well as working with students with disabilities is preferred
- Two or more years of related experience is preferred
